Triton Says iHeart Holds First Place On Its U.S. Ranker In July.

It is a three-peat for the iHeartPodcast Audience Network. After making its debut on Triton Digital’s ranking of biggest sales networks in the U.S. during May, last month marked three consecutive months atop the ranker. Triton data shows iHeart had average weekly users of more than 18.4 million listeners and average weekly downloads of 66.4 million last month. Both metrics were up month-to-month. The iHeart Audience Network includes not only shows iHeartPodcasts publishes, but also other publisher’s shows that it sells advertising for.

Triton says the SiriusXM Podcast Network remained in second place with 12.8 million average weekly users and 38.5 million average weekly downloads. It too had increases in both metrics last month.

The now-familiar split in third place also held. In terms of weekly downloads, NPR ranked third, with 25.3 million on average. That put it ahead of Wondery’s 19.2 million. But in terms of average weekly users, Wondery led during July. It had 6.6 million listeners each week on average according to Triton, while NPR had 6.3 million.

Audioboom rounded out the top five with 13.1 million average weekly downloads, and 5.1 million average weekly users.

Triton says during July the top three podcasts based on downloads included NPR News Now, which again ranked No. 1 among the publishers it measures, followed by NPR’s Up First and NBCUniversal News Group’s Dateline NBC in third place. It was a repeat of June’s top three.

For listeners, the top three podcasts in May based the publishers measured by Triton included NPR News Now, again at No.1, followed by Audiochuck’s Crime Junkie in second and NPR’s Up First in third place. It too was the same as a month earlier.

Triton says there were several debuts for the month of July including Audioboom’s Cancelled with Tana Mongeau, Cumulus Podcast Network’s Bongino Report Early Edition with Evita, iHeart’s The Steve Harvey Morning Show. and NPR’s Embedded, among others for both downloads and listeners.

In terms of listeners, debuts included NBC News’ Dateline: Missing in America, SiriusXM’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson, iHeart’s Listen to the Story, and iHeart’s The Sean Hannity Show.
