Triton’s January Podcast Rankings Show iHeart Remained On Top.

The new year began where the old left off, says Triton Digital, which reports the iHeartPodcast Audience Network remained the biggest publisher among those it measured in January. Triton says iHeart earned the top spot again on the Top Sales Networks report, with 64.4 million average weekly downloads and 18.1 million average weekly users last month.

NPR remained in second place, with 25.7 million average weekly downloads and 6.3 million average weekly users. The January update shows the Audacy Podcast Network, which jumped to third place in December, remained there last month, with 12.6 million average weekly downloads and 4.7 million average weekly users.

Triton says the top three podcasts based on downloads were led by NPR News Now, which again was followed by NPR’s Up First and Cumulus Podcast Network’s The Dan Bongino Show, followed by iHeart’s Stuff You Should Know and Cumulus Podcast Network’s Shawn Ryan Show.

When the podcasts are ranked by the number of unique listeners, the top three podcasts included NPR News Now followed by NPR’s Up First, while the Shawn Ryan Show climbed to third.

There were several debuts for the month of January, including The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson (iHeart Audience Network), The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller & Adam Scott (Audacy Podcast Network), and The Todd Starnes Show (Salem Podcast Network) — each of which ranked among the biggest shows in terms of both downloads and listeners.
