There was little movement at the top of Triton Digital’s U.S. Podcast Ranker in August, with iHeart Audience Network maintaining a commanding lead among sales networks and the same three shows holding onto the top three positions on the podcast chart.

Triton reports the iHeart Audience Network ranked first with 65.9 million average weekly downloads, up nearly 2% from 64.7 million in June. Audioboom remained second with 14.9 million average weekly downloads, while Cumulus Podcast Network held third with just under 3 million.

The BBC remained fourth with 2.2 million average weekly downloads. Salem Podcast Network moved into fifth with 1.5 million, ahead of PRX at 1.4 million. American Public Media Group, Lemonada Media and Gamut Podcast Network followed.

The biggest move among the top 10 came from Beasley Media Group, which climbed two positions to No. 10 with 607,000 average weekly downloads across 69 active podcasts.

Triton’s August report covers the four-week period from Aug. 3 through Aug. 30 and includes only publishers and sales networks that participate in its Podcast Metrics measurement program.

The top of Triton’s show ranking was even more stable. iHeart’s “Stuff You Should Know” remained No. 1, followed by Crooked Media’s “Pod Save America,” represented by Audioboom, at No. 2. iHeart’s “My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark” held third.

Cumulus Podcast Network’s “The Dan Bongino Show” moved back up to fourth, followed by Audioboom’s “The Bulwark Podcast.” The BBC’s “Global News Podcast” ranked sixth.

There was more movement in the bottom half of the top 10. iHeart’s “Betrayal Weekly” climbed two positions to seventh, while “The Bobby Bones Show” slipped one spot to eighth. Audioboom’s “Smosh Reads Reddit Stories” fell one position to ninth, and American Public Media Group’s “Marketplace” moved up one to round out the top 10.

Several shows also made their Triton debuts during August. They included iHeart’s “Burden of Guilt Season 3,” Audioboom’s “Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary” and Salem Podcast Network’s “Your Daily Bible Verse.”

The August release is Triton Digital’s monthly snapshot based on server-side measurement from companies that opt into its rankings. The sales network report is based on average weekly downloads and follows version 2.2 of the IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines.

Triton’s expanded quarterly reports offer a broader view of the podcast market, including a top 200 show ranking as well as data by genre and audience profile. The quarterly reports also include more than 40 demographic and purchase-intent segments sourced from its Demos+ survey, with audience profiles developed in collaboration with Signal Hill Insights.

The most recent quarterly report, covering the second quarter of 2026, ranked "The Joe Rogan Experience" as the industry's most-listened-to podcast, followed by Audiochuck's "Crime Junkie," The New York Times' "The Daily," Unwell's "Call Her Daddy” and “This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von.”
