‘The Bert Show’ To Sign Off After 25 Years.

Bert Weiss, one of morning radio’s most recognizable voices, will sign off for the last time Oct. 24, when “The Bert Show” airs its final broadcast. His retirement will close the book on a program that grew from a local Atlanta launch on Cumulus Media CHR “Q99.7” WWWQ-FM into a nationally syndicated program – now distributed by Westwood One – heard in more than two dozen markets and downloaded millions of times each month as a podcast.

Weiss debuted “The Bert Show” in 2001, quickly developing a reputation for candid, unfiltered conversations that mixed humor, empathy, and headline-making moments. Among them: being the first to play Justin Bieber on the radio and airing an interview with Usher that inspired the superstar’s “Confessions” album.

“For 25 years, listeners have allowed me to be part of their mornings, their commutes and their lives – and that is the greatest gift of my career,” Weiss said in a release. “It’s almost unheard of in radio for an audience to stay with a show this long, and I’ll never take that loyalty for granted.”

Beyond the airwaves, Weiss’ legacy is also defined by giving back. His nonprofit, Bert’s Big Adventure, has provided hundreds of children with chronic and terminal illnesses – and their families – with all-expenses-paid trips to Walt Disney World. He will continue to lead the organization following his retirement.

Cumulus Media Chief Content Officer Brian Philips, who helped launch the program, called Weiss “the obsessive architect of humor, truthfulness and humanitarianism,” adding, “The Bert Show Era is a historic chapter in Atlanta – and American – radio.”

Over the course of his career, Weiss has earned inductions into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame and Friends of Georgia Radio Hall of Fame, three National Radio Hall of Fame nominations, and multiple “Best of Atlanta” honors. He was also recently named a 2025 Atlanta Airport Ambassador.

In addition to guiding “The Bert Show,” Weiss co-founded Pionaire, a boutique podcast consultancy that mentors creators and develops strategies for authentic storytelling. He plans to remain active in the podcast space while also focusing on personal milestones, including marriage and travel.

A replacement at “Q99.7” and Westwood One has not been announced.
