Team Behind ‘Scrooge’ Podcast Sign-On To Develop Companion Easter Podcast.

The creative team behind the hit holiday podcast Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is expanding its focus to a new holiday with the launch of an Easter-focused series. Northwestern Media’s Faith Podcast Network is producing a new podcast titled The Christ. The four-part story could be considered a sequel of sorts, as it follows the story of Jesus Christ, from his birth to his death and resurrection.

“We are delighted to share this story — in an unprecedented manner — with the world,” says Jason Sharp, Senior VP for Media at Northwestern Media.

P.G. Cuschieri has written two earlier versions of Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, and will again tackle the writing duties for the new podcast.

“We are altogether humbled, honored and excited to share the story of Christ in audio format during the holiest week of the year,” says Cuschieri, who will also produce the series. “It is going to be a challenge as we will be, quite literally, on sacred ground. But we hope to deliver a series that honors the gospel in a way that has never been done in the audio space.”

Similar to the Scrooge podcast, Northwestern says its Easter podcast will feature an all-star cast. The production is still in its early phases, with release set for the Easter season of 2026. The Christ is being directed by Mark Ramsey, and produced by Jim Young, alongside Cuschieri and Ramsey. “We were proud to create Scrooge, and we are looking forward to doing it again with The Christ,” Ramsey says. “Northwestern Media is a wonderful and enthusiastic partner and their team is made up of long-time friends. We are thrilled for their support and look forward to adding The Christ to their remarkable portfolio of faith-based content.”

The holiday podcast Scrooge: A Christmas Carol debuted in 2023 and has had more than 480,000 downloads to date. It has earned several honors, including CMB’s Podcast of the Year and an Ambie nomination for Best Performance in Audio Fiction. In 2024, the podcast was also broadcast on Christian radio for the first time.

Northwestern Media’s Faith Podcast Network is an extension of its “Faith Radio” network of broadcast radio stations. The network includes more than 15 faith-based podcasts.
