Just a day after Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast released its episode featuring a conversation with Taylor Swift, the episode has amassed 10 million YouTube views and counting. The record-setting pace was not without some hiccups, however. The episode’s live stream premiere ran into some technical glitches when the number of views reached as high as 1.3 million.
“Shoutout all the 92%ers and Swifties for actually helping us break the internet,” the show posted on X. It refers to its fans as 92%ers. The feed for the Wondery show was restored a few hours later.
The appearance of Swift also gave the typically more sports-centric show a boost just before the start of the NFL season, with the number of subscribers to the New Heights channel jumping to 2.96 million, up from a pre-Swift total of 2.85 million.
“This is my first podcast,” Swift says on the episode, adding that the show hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is her “favorite podcast” and she had been waiting for the invite. “This podcast got me a boyfriend ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago,” Swift tells listeners.
Swift’s appearance on the 124-minute episode was built around her announcement of her forthcoming album, “The Life of a Show Girl.”
“Not only do these podcasts have massive reach, but they’re also places where you can have a very nuanced, long-form conversation,” CAA Head of Podcasts Josh Lindgren tells The New York Times. “The editing tends to have a fairly light touch, and so it’s a place where you can go and have a conversation and expect that that’s more or less what’s going to get transmitted to your audience.”
