Salem Media Group, owner of 95 radio stations in 35 markets and the Salem Radio Network, has made the move into broadcast television with its Salem News Channel.
By way of a partnership with HC2 Broadcasting, the company specializing in Christian and conservative content has made its news channel available free over-the-air in 55 (or 25%) of U.S. TV markets, significantly increasing its footprint.
Coverage includes seven of the top 10 markets, with Salem News Channel stations in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and San Francisco. Additional major markets include Phoenix, Tampa, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Orlando, FL, and Sacramento, CA.
All told, Salem News Channel will be available on broadcast television stations in 30 states and Puerto Rico.
“We welcome our new partnership with HC2 Broadcasting,” Salem News Channel VP and GM Cary Pahigian says. “This is another significant step in the rapid growth and distribution of the Salem News Channel, and in HC2 Broadcasting’s expansion.”
HC2 Broadcasting President and CEO Les Levi adds, “We are excited about our partnership with Salem Media Group and delighted to be launching the Salem News Channel on our TV broadcast platform. The channel will be available for the first time to broadcast television viewers, who should enjoy the network’s rich and informative news content.”
