A year after the sudden death of NBA great Kobe Bryant, iHeartMedia’s news-talk KFI Los Angeles (640) is launching a limited-run podcast series looking back at what happened. The Death and Life of Kobe Bryant will also be released as a two-hour documentary that KFI will air on Sunday, January 24. The special will also be syndicated across all iHeartMedia’s news-talk stations.
KFI says the podcast will feature interviews and audio excerpts from live news coverage surrounding the January 26, 2020 accident. It will also include the NTSB’s investigation and controversies surrounding the incident, including illegal photos taken at the crash site by law enforcement. The series will also explore the void Bryant’s death left in the business world and the Black community.
The Death and Life of Kobe Bryant is produced and hosted by award-winning journalist Steve Gregory. He is a seven-time Edward R. Murrow Award winner and has received more than 30 Golden Mike© Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting. Gregory has been with iHeartMedia for 27 years – including 16 at KFI – and is one of the most respected journalists in the business. The series is co-produced by KFI’s Jacob Gonzalez and Eric Sklar.
