‘Office Ladies’ Say Show Will Keep Punching In As Five-Year Rewatch Comes To An End.

What happens when a podcast that is rewatching a television series gets to the end of the TV’s show run? That is the challenge Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey are facing as their Office Ladies podcast wraps up its viewing of “The Office” after five years. This week’s episode caps off the finale with the announcement that Office Ladies will live on as a comedy series that will release episodes twice a week.

What they are calling Office Ladies 6.0 will release episodes each Wednesday, which they say will go deeper into the world of The Office and “best-friendship” that will use the television series as a launch point.

“We might be coming to the end of this rewatch, but we are not going anywhere,” said Fischer. “We are going to continue to share all of our fun Office stories. We’re going to interview people. We’re going to deep dive. We’re going to Mom Detective.” For instance, she said they are currently working on an episode that is a character breakdown of Michael Scott. “I hope we will do that for every character at some point,” Fischer said.

On Mondays, the show will re-release all of its episodes from 2019 beginning in order. They are dubbing it “Second Drink.”

“We know how much you guys love the rewatch. It’s not going anywhere either,” Kinsey said. “Every Monday we will be rerunning the rewatch library in order with bonus tidbits at the top of every episode — It’s really the best of everything.”

On Office Ladies, best friends and former co-stars Fischer and Kinsey break down individual episodes of “The Office” and share behind-the-scenes stories of the TV series. Fischer and Kinsey also regularly answer listener questions on “Office Mailbag” episodes and have recorded a special “Office Ladies Live” episode in front of a studio audience. Edison Research says Office Ladies was the 34th most popular podcast during the second quarter.

Audacy Podcasts inked a strategic partnership in July with Fischer and Kinsey to handle sales, distribution, and production for Office Ladies, which had previously been with SiriusXM’s Earwolf since its launch in 2019. As part of the partnership, Audacy also handles sales and distribution for the indie show The Lazy Genius with Kendra Adachi, which is part of the Office Ladies Network.
