NPR News Now, the on-demand hourly newscast from the public radio network, returned to first place in March on Podtrac’s monthly ranking of the most listened-to shows, advancing one position to push The New York Times morning news podcast The Daily to second place. Among the publishers it measures, Podtrac says NPR’s morning news podcast Up First held onto third place last month. Rounding out the top five was Dateline NBC in fourth, marking a return to the top 10 for the NBC News show; and Fox Audio Network’s Fox News Hourly Update, which advanced two notches from seventh to fifth place.
News podcasts accounted for all the top five positions in Podtrac’s March rankings of the top shows.
The biggest chart mover in Podtrac’s March top 20 was Noticentro, which jumped five notches to No. 6. The Spanish-language news podcast from Audio Centro drops multiple one-minute podcasts each day.
Vince, the podcast hosted by Vince Coglianese from Silverloch Productions, the media company launched by host Dan Bongino and his wife Paula, debuted on the Podtrac chart at No. 7. Bongino was tapped last month by President Trump to become the new Deputy Director of the FBI.
Cumulus Podcast Network’s Shawn Ryan Show, which entered the top five in January, fell three positions to eighth place. This American Life moved the opposite way, climbing three rungs to ninth, followed by Barstool Sports Pardon My Take at No. 10.

The ranking is based on Podtrac measurement data for U.S. unique monthly audience for any show that was measured for the entire month. While measurement is free for any podcast, the ranking only includes those shows that have opted in. It means that some of the biggest podcasts, like The Joe Rogan Experience, are not included in the measurement.
