Nominees For 28th Annual Webby Awards Announced; Four Up For Podcast Company Of The Year.

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences has announced the Nominees for the 28th Annual Webby Awards. Organizers say it is a record-breaking and extremely competitive year for Webby Awards podcast submissions. The Webby Podcast Company of the Year will again recognize the organization with the most overall nominations and wins across the podcast categories. Organizations in contention include Audible (16), iHeartMedia (11), Tenderfoot TV (5) and WaitWhat (4).

“This year’s Nominees represent the very best in innovation and creativity on the Internet,” Claire Graves, President of The Webby Awards, said in the announcement. “Individually the work is outstanding and collectively they represent a commitment from brands, creators and technology companies to human-centric design and storytelling.”

All nominees are also eligible to win the two most prestigious awards: The Webby Award, selected by the Academy, and The Webby People’s Voice Award, voted on by the online community — with voting open now through April 18. Here are the nominees in the podcast categories:

Organizers say with nearly 13,000 entries from over 70 countries around the world and a record number of social media submissions, this year’s competition was extremely competitive. From the tens of thousands of global entries submitted, fewer than 12% were selected as nominees. Winners for The 28th Annual Webby Awards will be announced April 23 and winners will be celebrated at a star-studded in-person award show on May 13 in New York.
