MediaCo posted second-quarter revenue growth of 9% as digital sales continued to drive the company’s top-line performance, while higher expenses contributed to declines in Adjusted EBITDA and a wider net loss.
Net revenue rose to $34 million for the quarter ended June 30, up from $31.2 million a year earlier. Net loss increased 17% to $8.6 million from $7.4 million. Adjusted EBITDA fell 38% to $942,000 from $1.5 million in Q2 2025.
For the first half of 2026, MediaCo reported net revenue of $65.4 million, up 10% or $6.1 million from $59.3 million a year ago. Net loss totaled $18 million, compared with $16 million in the first half of 2025. Adjusted EBITDA declined 61% to $1.1 million from $2.9 million.
The company, whose brands include urban contemporary “Hot 97” WQHT-FM, urban AC WBLS-FM (107.5), Spanish AC “Luna 107.5” WBLS-HD2, regional Mexican “La Buena” WQHT-HD2, attributed the first-half net loss primarily to increased digital expenses, losses on the disposal of assets and higher net interest costs. Those factors were partially offset by higher revenue and increased net other income. The decline in Adjusted EBITDA was driven by higher operating and corporate expenses.
MediaCo CEO Albert Rodriguez said the company’s 9% Q2 revenue growth outpaced much of the industry, with digital continuing to play a central role in its cross-platform strategy.
Digital channels accounted for 47% of advertising revenue during the quarter, according to MediaCo. Rodriguez said the company is benefiting from a combination of digital sales growth, culturally focused programming, a strong sales pipeline and an expanding distribution footprint spanning television, radio, digital and FAST platforms.
“We are growing our audience reach and strengthening our value to advertisers,” Rodriguez said.
MediaCo is also moving to reduce expenses as it seeks to improve operating efficiency and profitability. Rodriguez said the company has implemented a companywide cost and expense reduction initiative designed to strengthen operating discipline and improve EBITDA and margins.
The company also highlighted continued audience momentum at EstrellaTV. The Spanish-language network posted a 38% year-over-year increase in P18-49 prime-time audience during the first six months of 2026, according to MediaCo, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of audience growth.
EstrellaTV exceeded its year-ago P18-49 delivery across nearly every daypart during the first half, including weekday and weekend prime, early fringe, weekday daytime, weekend daytime and total day.
MediaCo said EstrellaTV was the fastest-growing Spanish-language broadcast network in the U.S. during the period. In March, it was the only Spanish-language broadcast network to post P18-49 growth, increasing 22% from the prior year.
The company said the network’s audience performance reflects the strength and balance of its programming strategy as MediaCo continues to expand its reach among multicultural audiences.
Rodriguez said MediaCo remains focused on monetizing investments in its media assets while diversifying revenue sources and streamlining operations.
“We believe the future is very bright as we position serving multicultural audiences,” he said.
