iHeart Expands Radio Partnership With New York Road Runners.

ree

iHeartMedia New York and New York Road Runners, the nonprofit which produces 60 annual adult and youth races including the TCS New York City Marathon, have extended their radio partnership with a three-year deal. The agreement includes a weekly broadcast of NYRR’s “Set the Pace” podcast, the first-ever radio broadcast of its New Balance 5th Avenue Mile, and the continued radio broadcast of the Marathon, all on iHeart’s New York talk station WOR (710).

The new agreement is part of NYRR’s newly launched content studio, East 89th St Productions, which aims to bring the transformative stories of the running community to iHeart’s millions of listeners across broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.

While iHeart will continue to be the exclusive radio home of the New York City Marathon through 2027, following its debut as the marathon’s first-ever official broadcast radio partner in 2024, it will also air “Set the Pace” year-round Sunday mornings on WOR — along with ongoing promotion of NYRR’s year-round events, programs, and sponsors — and provide live radio coverage of NYRR’s New Balance 5th Avenue Mile Sept. 7 on WOR, with cut-ins from along the course with iHeart personalities.

iHeart's live coverage of the Marathon Nov. 2 will also include cut-ins from personalities, including Garrett Vogel of CHR “Z100” WHTZ New York’s “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” who will run in the race for a second consecutive year. iHeartMedia will also provide live DJ booths, cheer zones, and sign-making stations to the Marathon as well as the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile and NYRR’s Mastercard New York Mini 10K.

“There are countless incredible stories to tell from our race start-lines and across the running community, from the aspirational professional runners to our inspirational back-of-the-pack final finishers,” New York Road Runners CEO Rob Simmelkjaer says. “We’re excited to expand our collaboration with iHeartMedia to share more of these stories that highlight the transformative power of running and get even more people into this inclusive sport.”

iHeartMedia New York Market President Steve DeLusant adds, “iHeartMedia is proud to partner with New York Road Runners in celebrating the power of movement, community, and the iconic spirit of New York City. As the official audio and radio partner of the TCS New York City Marathon through 2027, 710 WOR has the unique privilege of bringing the energy and emotion of race day to listeners across the city and beyond. From the TCS New York City Marathon to the launch of NYRR 'Set the Pace' on WOR, this multi-year collaboration allows us to amplify the voices and stories that inspire runners and fans alike.”
