Actor Danny Trejo is returning to the horror podcast realm for a new series that will take listeners through tales from across Latin America, giving age-old stories a modern twist. Nocturno: Tales from the Shadows is the third horror podcast project that Trejo has worked on, this time serving as the narrator for the series produced by iHeartMedia’s My Cultura Network and Sonoro Global Media.
Trejo says in the preview that the 13-episode scripted horror anthology series is “inspired by the most terrifying legends and lores of Latin America.” It includes age-old stories such as Xibalba, La Garita del Diablo, and Nagualli as it takes listeners from “the darkest alleys of Los Angeles to the deepest caves of the Mayan underworld.”
New episodes of Nocturno: Tales from the Shadows will be released weekly on Tuesdays.
Trejo is no stranger to the horror podcast genre. He earlier teamed up with Audio Up for the Dia De Los Muertos (In Hell)series, which was also released during the Halloween season, and with reVolver Podcasts for the show For Blood or Justice. Trejo has also starred in dozens of films including Desperado, Heat, the ‘From Dusk till Dawn’ series, Con Air, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, the ‘Spy Kids’ movies, Machete, The Bad Ass trilogy, and Dead Again in Tombstone, among others.
