Colin Cowherd’s The Volume Is Bringing NCAA Players Into Podcasting.


The Volume – the podcast network co-founded by syndicated sports radio host Colin Cowherd and iHeartMedia – is adding Alabama starting quarterback Bryce Young to its team. It has hired him as a host and contributor to the network. In a unique arrangement, Young will co-host his weekly The Bryce Young Podcast with Jake Crain, the host of The Volume’s The Jboy Show.


“There is no brand in college football bigger than Alabama and there is no position more celebrated than quarterback,” said Cowherd in the announcement. “We feel privileged that Bryce will be joining us each week on The Volume to give his perspective from the epicenter of college football. This will be a must-listen for any college football fan.”


The new series will publish episodes each Tuesday throughout the college football season.


“This podcast is an opportunity to bring Alabama and college football fans closer to the action each week,” said Young. “I have great respect for Colin and his content has always been informative and entertaining,” he said.


Young and the Crimson Tide are looking for another national title this year. He will also be one of the first active players to sign a media deal under the NCAA’s new name, image, likeness policy announced in June. The Volume has also signed Notre Dame football players Kyle Hamilton, Cam Hart, Conor Ratigan and KJ Wallace to host the Inside The Garage podcast each Monday through Notre Dame’s season.


The Volume was launched January 31 by Cowherd and iHeartRadio. FanDuel serves as the presenting sponsor of all Volume podcasts. The sports-focused studio will also offer a slate of podcasts that are focused on sports. Its lineup includes The Colin Cowherd Podcast, a three-times-a-week show hosted by Cowherd. Under their alliance, iHeartMedia will handle show distribution and advertising sales for The Volume. It launched with the sports betting site FanDuel as its lead sponsor.


The Volume is a second podcast network for Cowherd. In 2018 he teamed with iHeart’s Premiere Networks and Red Seat Ventures to launch The Herd Podcast Network. It includes The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the on-demand version of his daily syndicated Fox Sports Radio show, which had more than 100-million downloads last year.
