Business Forward, a nationwide coalition of more than 100,000 small business leaders, launched a $1.2 million radio ad campaign in 12 swing congressional districts across the country. The campaign’s messaging is focused on encouraging members of Congress to support the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better plan and its solutions for climate change.
In a release, the organization’s Executive Director Liz Fairchild says investments must be made “to not only spur economic growth and job creation, but also protect our communities from future global shocks. It’s not just the science that tells us that addressing climate change is necessary. Our economic reality demands it.”
Small business owners “have very direct knowledge of the price we're paying for climate change now,” Business Forward President Jim Doyle told Public News Service. He says extreme temperatures “are spiking commodity prices, disrupting supply chains, damaging plants' equipment, and messing with consumer demand for their products.”
Insider NJ says New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District is one of the targeted areas the campaign is focusing on, with up to $100,000 worth of ads being placed on radio stations in and around the district, which is located in the northern part of the state. New York's 4th Congressional District in East New York and parts of Nassau County are also among the districts where ads are being placed.
The Build Back Better plan proposes investments to modernize the electricity sector, improve air quality and lower energy costs.
