Black Women Will Be The Target Of Urban One’s First Personality-Driven Podcast.

Urban One is adding podcasting to its media portfolio alongside radio and television. The African American-targeted company has offered on-demand versions of several of its radio shows, but “The Undressing Room” will become its first personality-driven original podcast.

The series will draw on talent already in the Urban One family. It will be hosted by radio personalities Eva Marcille from the syndicated “Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” Lore'l from syndicated “The Morning Hustle” and Dominique da Diva from the syndicated “Quicksilva Show.” The weekly podcast will target women with talk of entertainment, pop culture, celebrity gossip, fashion, and beauty.

The podcast is coming out of Reach Media, the syndication arm of Urban One. It says the launch is a recognition that Black podcast listenership is on the rise and is growing faster than White listenership.

Urban One says Macy’s is on board as the lead sponsor of “The Undressing Room.” "’The Undressing Room’ will provide our listeners with a fresh entertaining podcast and deliver yet another engaging audio outlet for our advertisers to reach our coveted audience,” said Josh Rahmani, Senior VP National & Network Sales at Reach Media in the announcement.

“The Undressing Room” will debut its first episode Thursday, February 4.
