The Broadcasters Foundation of America has kicked off its annual Year-End Giving Campaign, calling on individuals and companies across the broadcasting industry to make tax-deductible donations that provide vital financial assistance to colleagues facing hardship.
As the only charity devoted exclusively to helping broadcasters in need, the Broadcasters Foundation offers both monthly and emergency grants to industry professionals struggling due to life-altering illness, medical emergencies, or natural disasters. President Tim McCarthy said the effort reflects the organization’s mission to offer a “hand-up” during difficult times.
“Monthly and emergency grants are often the only financial resource for our colleagues in need, and the funding for those grants depends on donations from within broadcasting,” McCarthy said. “Our 100% Give with Confidence score from Charity Navigator ensures contributions go directly to those who need it most.”
Over the past 20 years, the Broadcasters Foundation has distributed more than $15 million in financial aid to broadcasters across all 50 states and U.S. territories. Chairman Scott Herman emphasized that the organization’s success relies heavily on support from both broadcast groups and related media companies.
“The BFOA is dedicated to taking care of our peers in the TV and radio industry,” Herman said. “Whether it’s a monthly grant or one-time aid in response to an emergency, the Broadcasters Foundation is often the only financial safety net for colleagues who are struggling.”
Donations to the Year-End Giving Campaign help sustain that mission – ensuring that when broadcasters face personal crises, the industry is there to support its own.
Ways to donate can be found on the BFOA website.
