And The 2020 NAB Crystal Radio Awards Go To…


The National Association of Broadcasters announced the 10 winners of the 33rd-annual NAB Crystal Radio Awards Wednesday during the NAB Show Express, the two-day online event streaming this week in place of the real-life, face-to-face NAB Show that was turfed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.


The awards have traditionally been handed out at the We Are Broadcasters Celebration during the spring show in Las Vegas.


The 2020 victors are: Cox Media Group news/talk KRMG-FM Tulsa (102.3); Cumulus Media country “K-Bull” KUBL Salt Lake City (93.3); Daily News Broadcasting classic rock “D-93” WDNS Bowling Green, KY; Hubbard Broadcasting hot AC “Q-102” WKRQ Cincinnati; Alpha Media news/talk WSGW Saginaw, MI (790); Hubbard Broadcasting AC “Warm 106.9” KRWM Seattle; Ida-Vend Communications Group hot AC “”Y-105” KVTY Lewiston, ID (105.1); Howard University urban AC WHUR-FM Washington, DC (96.3) ; Hubbard Broadcasting AC “Mix 94.9” WREW Cincinnati; and Cox Media Group alternative “97-X” WSUN Tampa (97.1).


During the virtual event, five-time NAB Crystal Radio Award-winning station, Coloff Media adult hits “93.5 The Mix” KCVM Waterloo-Cedar Falls, IA received the Crystal Heritage Award.


The NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service since 1987. Finalists were chosen by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms.


The decision to not hold the show in April in Las Vegas was made after the NAB consulted with the show’s key constituencies—exhibitors and companies that send people to the convention – and after monitoring advisories from world health organizations and the U.S. Centers For Disease Control And Prevention.
