Triton: iHeart Remains No. 1 Podcast Sales Network, BBC Enters Top Ten.

Triton Digital reports the iHeartPodcast Audience Network remained the biggest U.S. sales network among those it measured in April. Triton says iHeart earned the top spot again on the Top Sales Networks report, with 74.1 million average weekly downloads, which was a 4% increase from March. And iHeart had 19.9 million average weekly users last month.

NPR remained second, with just under 28 million average weekly downloads and 7.2 million average weekly users in April — a 1% increase in downloads when compared to the prior month. The Audacy Podcast Network ranked third with 15.2 million average weekly downloads, and 5.6 million average weekly users. Both were down month-to-month after Audacy posted double-digit increases in March.

They were followed by Audioboom, Cumulus Podcast Network, Paramount, Soundrise and Salem Podcast Network. Each held the same position on the ranker in April as in March.

The BBC made its debut on Triton’s U.S. ranker, as it jumped into the top ten last month. Triton says the BBC averaged 2.5 million downloads in the U.S., with average weekly listeners of 814,807 during the month. Its entry pushed American Public Media back to tenth place, while All Things Comedy slid out of the top ten.

Triton Digital’s monthly rankings only include publishers that opt-in.

Triton says during April the top three podcasts based on downloads included NPR News Now and NPR’s Up First, both of which were steady from March, while iHeart’s Stuff You Should Know climbed to third place.

For listeners, the top three podcasts were again led by NPR News Now and Up First, with the Cumulus Podcast Network’s Shawn Ryan Show climbing to third.

There were several debuts for the month of April, including Global News Podcast (BBC), Aware and Aggravated (Audioboom), Bone Valley (Lava For Good/iHeart), and Trained to Kill: The Dog Trainer, the Heiress and the Bodyguard (Audacy Podcast Network).
