Amazon Gives ‘Lord Of The Rings’ TV Spinoff Its Own Companion Podcast.


In celebration of the season finale of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Prime Video, Amazon launching a new companion podcast for the hit TV show. Titled The Official The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Podcast, the podcast is hosted by actress and Tolkien-superfan Felicia Day (Supernatural, The Magicians). All eight episodes of the companion podcast will be released on October 14 on Amazon Music immediately following the TV series’ season finale.


Day will also lead what it promises will be a “fresh and insightful look” at the groundbreaking TV series and what it takes to bring Middle Earth to life. Amazon says the series will feature cast and crew interviews, including Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Arondir), Sophia Nomvete (Princess Disa), and Charlie Vickers (Halbrand). The companion podcast will also be the first destination for fans to hear showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay comment on the extraordinary season finale.


“As a fan of all things Tolkien, I could not be more excited to explore all things Middle-earth and spill all the magical secrets that brought the new series to life,” said Day in a statement. “The Official Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Podcast is giving it all away; we are talking with cast and creators to get all the behind-the-scenes tea.”

Amazon says the TV series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” has been a global sensation in its first season, seeing more than 25 million views for the first two episodes over the series’ premiere weekend. According to Nielsen, the TV show also delivered 1.25 billion minutes streamed in the U.S. during its premiere weekend. This is the first time a Prime Video series has debuted at No.1 on the Nielsen chart, and “The Rings of Power” was also the only series that crossed the 1 billion minutes streamed threshold for the week.


The Official The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Podcast joins the growing catalogue of podcasts on Amazon Music including My Favorite Murder, Morbid and Dr. Death, along with other podcast hits such as SmartLess, How I Built This, and Business Wars.
