To celebrate Pride Month, Audacy's New York news stations WINS (1010 AM) and WCBS-AM (880) have launched It's OK To Say Gay, a new podcast focused on topics affecting the LGBTQIA+ community, nationwide via its app and website.
The podcast, hosted by WINS and WCBS Managing Producer of Podcasts Femi Redwood, will feature interviews, inclusive storytelling and informative deep dives into societal issues, with topics including “Pride is back! But in the wake of social justice movements, will it be more of a party or a protest?” and “How a shortage of sperm from people of color disproportionally hurts LGBTQIA+ people.”
“As some LGBTQ people feel like they’re being forced back into the closet due to legislation like the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bills, queer and trans voices are more important than ever before,” Redwood says. “With humor and honesty, the new It’s OK To Say Gay' podcast brings together diverse voices across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum that rarely get to be heard.”
Redwood, who has more than a decade of experience as a journalist, also co-chairs the National Association of Black Journalists’ LGBTQ+ Task Force and is a board member at NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists.
