Ad Insider: Our Weekly News Recap From Top National Advertisers.

Here’s what large national advertisers are up to this week:

T-Mobile remains the wireless provider with the fastest median 5G internet download speed in the U.S., according to a new report published by Ookla. The research company’s latest “5G in the U.S.” study found T-Mobile had a peak median download speed on its 5G network of 287.14 megabits per second (Mbps) before a slight drop-off in April and May... McGarrah Jessee is touting the return of the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich at Whataburger with “A Beautiful Mess-terpiece” campaign running across radio, TV, digital, and social media. A quirky 30-second spot imagines the singing voices of each of the sandwich’s ingredients and fans also can purchase a limited-edition Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich pillow… Nordstrom continues to push ahead with the expansion of its off-price format. The department store company announced plans to open a new Nordstrom Rack in Houston in spring 2025. The 30,000-sq.-ft. store will be located in Westchase Shopping Center, which is owned and managed by Kimco Realty. The retailer currently operates eight Nordstrom stores and 21 Rack stores in Texas, generating approximately 4,000 jobs statewide… Amazon already announced that the 2024 edition of its Prime Day omnichannel sales extravaganza will occur in July. Now it has revealed the exact timing. Amazon’s 11th annual Prime Day event takes place July 16-17. Members of the Prime paid membership service will have exclusive access to millions of deals across more than 35 categories including electronics, kitchen, beauty and apparel, with early deals starting Tuesday, June 25… Panera Bread’s menu evolution continues with the announcement of a new breakfast menu, featuring both permanent items and limited-time offerings for June. The menu items include new breakfast sandwiches (one featuring double bacon portions, and another featuring steak on ciabatta bread), as well as new scrambled eggs-topped cinnamon rolls… While the fast-casual burger space is one of the best sectors to be in right now, it’s also one of the most competitive, and not every burger concept is winning. Denver-based chain Smashburger has a plan in place to reverse course on its 5.1% sales decline and 3.2% unit closures (as per the latest Technomic data), and get back on the fast track with the likes of super-successful competitors Shake Shack and Freddy’s. Smashburger’s plan involves bullet points like refreshing the brand look, simplifying the menu back down to its smashed burger roots, and honing its digital identity. New CMO Thomas Prather joined the company in May with the hopes of better refining the Smashburger brand and priming it for future growth… And Love’s Travel Stops is welcoming more than just human guests these days. The travel center chain surpassed the milestone of 400 dog parks across its network, giving furry friends the opportunity to enjoy their own breaks while on the road. All dog parks are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure that dogs can let off some steam whenever needed, according to the company.
