The Interactive Advertising Bureau has announced the host for the eighth annual IAB Podcast Upfront set for May. Actress, author and comedian Franchesca Ramsey will emcee the three-day event set to take place virtually May 10-12. This year’s theme, “Hear and Now,” will focus on how podcasting has become mainstream, prominent, and influential.
Ramsey is the creator and star of the award-winning web series “MTV Decoded.” A former writer and correspondent for Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore,” Ramsey most recently served as writer and co-producer on the iCarly reboot for Paramount+ and guest starred on NBC’s “Superstore.” She currently has scripted projects in development at Amazon and Paramount+. Before her life as a tv writer and actress Franchesca worked as a graphic designer for brands including Maybelline, Ann Taylor and the City of Miami Beach.
The podcast showcase for ad buyers by studios and creators will take place immediately following the IAB’s signature NewFronts, which remains the world’s largest digital content marketplace. The NewFronts will take place May 2-6 with the first four days as an in-person and streamed event followed by a virtual-only final day.
The IAB has also announced the host for that event. It will be a senior Peloton instructor, Alex Toussaint. This year’s IAB NewFronts theme is “Stream On,” which the trade group says conveys how more consumers and brands are leaning in to streaming video.
