New York commuters have heard it as long as they can remember: “You give us 22 minutes, we’ll give you the world,” the promise of “All News” WINS since its sign-on in 1965. Audacy’s WINS-AM/FM (1010/92.3) leads all U.S. stations during morning drive, according to Inside Radio’s TOP 10 ranking of persons 6+ cume delivery weekdays 6-10am in Nielsen’s PPM markets, during its summer 2025 wave (July-September), as compiled by ACT 1 Systems.
WINS’ morning news segment is anchored by Susan Richard — who’s been heard on the station since 1998 — along with Scott Stanford. WINS is the only all-news station in AM drive’s top 10, and one of three Audacy stations in the top five. Ranked fourth is classic hits WCBS-FM (101.1) New York with morning host Race Taylor, heard in the market since 1999 and anchoring AM Drive since June, while hot AC sister WNEW (102.7) New York, with Karen Carson in the air chair, places fifth.
Stations in the Big Apple claim the top five, and seven of the top 10. Coming in second is iHeartMedia adult contemporary “106.7 Lite FM” WLTW, where mornings are hosted by two radio veterans in the market, Paul “Cubby” Bryant and Christine Nagy. In third is iHeart CHR sister “Z100” WHTZ, the flagship for the syndicated “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” a fixture on “Z100” since 1996.

Three formats are represented by two stations each in the top 10. Along with “Lite FM,” iHeart also makes the cut with its Los Angeles AC, KOST (103.5), which boasts one of the few morning hosts with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame: Ellen K, who’s been part of L.A. mornings for the past three decades. Audacy takes credit for both classic hits stations listed, the second also in L.A., “K-Earth 101” KRTH, where Gary Bryan has hosted mornings since 2002. The second hot AC outlet is iHeart’s “104.3 MYfm” KBIG” Los Angeles, with Sean Valentine waking up the Southland since 2007.
The remaining two stations are iHeart’s rhythmic AC WKTU (103.5) and classic rock “Q104.3” WAXQ, both in New York. The former features AM host and National Radio Hall of Fame inductee Sean “Hollywood” Hamilton, who was one of the first air personalities on both “Z100,” when it signed on in 1983, and the current version of WKTU when it hit the airwaves in 1996. WAXQ’s morning show has been hosted since 2002 by Jim Kerr, who’s spent the past 51 years on the air in New York.

Out in front in Inside Radio’s TOP 10 stations in morning drive in markets 20+ is iHeart classic hits “3WS” WWSW (94.5) Pittsburgh, where nearly-30-year market mainstay Jonny Hartwell does wake-up duty. Classic hits stations account for half of the top 10 and all of the top four, with iHeart’s “106.7 The Eagle” KLTH Portland, OR and KLOU (103.3) St. Louis ranked second and fourth — hosted by Bob Hauer and Billy Greenwood, respectively — and Cox Media Group’s KONO-FM (101.1) San Antonio, TX third, with longtime market voice Tony Cortez, handling AM drive. Placing 10th is iHeart classic hits “Majic 105.7” WMJI Cleveland, 13-year home of morning host Mark Nolan.
A pair of ACs make the list: fifth-ranked is iHeart’s “K103” KKCW Portland, where Stacey Lynn Fisher and Mikel Chase have co-hosted mornings since 2014; and at seventh-place, Audacy’s KEZK (102.5) St. Louis, where Julie Tristan has taken care of AM drive since 2015. St. Louis lands a third station in the top 10 with legendary Hubbard Radio rocker KSHE (94.7), with Adrian “A.D.” Rowntree hosting mornings.
The remaining two stations in the markets 20+ top 10 are both in Austin, TX. Coming in eighth is Sinclair adult hits “Bob FM 103.5” KBPA with 20-year AM drive host Krash Kelly, and in ninth, University of Texas all-news KUT (90.5) with NPR’s “Morning Edition,” which the station has aired since its debut in 1979.
