What Do MLK and Mister Rogers Have In Common? Both Inspired Shelley Wade’s New Podcast.

New York radio personality Shelley Wade is out to offer an antidote to the daily drumbeat of bad, negative and sad news in the 24-hour news cycle. It won’t come on-air, however. Wade is launching a weekly podcast called The Goodness Factor, which reminds listeners that there are actually good people in this world doing good things.

“I was motivated to create The Goodness Factor podcast to inspire those who feel discouraged by the daily impact of negative news. Also, I’ve been inspired my whole life by people like Dr. King, Oprah, and Mister Rogers, who demonstrated that you can use your platform for goodness,” Wade says in the announcement. “I want to be part of that legacy and The Goodness Factor gives me the opportunity to do just that, and I’m excited to expand my platform at Audacy with the series.”

Wade hosts afternoons on Audacy’s classic hip-hop “94.7 The Block” WXBK New York. Earlier this year she signed a contract extension with the station that included the new podcast as part of the agreement. Audacy says each 30-minute episode will introduce listeners to people — celebs and regular people alike — shining the spotlight on the good deeds they’re doing. Guests include LL Cool J, DMC of Run DMC, and Grammy-winning musician Robert Glasper.

“Shelley is a radio legend whose positive outlook on life mirrors the passion she brings to the airwaves,” said Maddy Sprung-Keyser, VP, Head of Original Podcasts at Audacy. “The Goodness Factor will bring joy to listeners and offer exciting opportunities for advertisers and clients alike.”

The Goodness Factor with Shelley Wade will launch Tuesday, July 16. New episodes will be released each Tuesday.
