Urban One DFW Makes Programming Changes.

Following Urban One Dallas’ May 2026 purchase of Service Broadcasting’s urban contemporary “K104” KKDA-FM and urban AC KRNB (105.7), the company has made format and programming adjustment to both stations, along with its rhythmic CHR “97.9 The Beat” KBFB.

Undergoing the most changes is KRNB, which shifts its focus to R&B hits from the 90s to today and adjusts its brand to “105.7 RnB,” with a logo similar to that of Philadelphia sister WRNB.

At “97.9 The Beat,” Urban One’s Reach Media-syndicated “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” had moved to the station in July, followed by Jazzi Black middays. Now rounding out the weekday schedule is former “Power 106” KPWR Los Angeles midday host Bryhana Monegain handling PM drive, and Reach Media’s “Posted on the Corner” with Incognito and DJ Misses at night.

Compass Media Networks-syndicated “DeDe in the Morning” featuring longtime Texas radio personality DeDe McGuire, continues on its flagship station “K104,” while McGuire’s former co-host Michael Shawn returns to host middays at the station. Hollywood Bay Bay hosts afternoons, followed by Lil D at night.

“This strategic realignment strengthens Radio One Dallas’ ability to serve the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with exceptional entertainment, engaging personalities and compelling content that connects with our audiences,” Urban One Dallas Operations Manager/Program Director Yonni Rude says.

Urban One Dallas VP/General Manager Maurice Potts adds, “Our programming continues to evolve in ways that better reflect the audience that we serve and the direction of our brands. Rebranding 105.7 gives us an opportunity to create an even stronger, more distinctive connection with our audience while delivering the music and personalities they love. These changes reflect our commitment to keeping our stations fresh, relevant, and focused on serving our listeners.”
