Podtrac has released its list of the top new podcasts of 2024 among the U.S. publishers it measures. True crime dominates the ranking, as the genre accounts for the ten biggest debuts. Leading the list is the NBC News series Mortal Sin. It is followed by Paramount’s Blood is Thicker: The Hargan Family Killings and NBC’s Murder in the Hollywood Hills. Here’s what else make the list:

Podtrac says to qualify as “new,” a show must have published its first episode between Dec. 1, 2023, and Nov. 30, 2024. The ranking is on average downloads during that period as measured by Podtrac. Episodes marked by publisher as Bonus or Trailer episodes are excluded from the calculations.
