Triton Digital says the iHeart Audience Network remained in the top spot in March, with 71.5 million average weekly downloads in the U.S. That was a one percent increase from February. Audioboom remained in second place with 16.3 million average weekly downloads in March, a slight tip from the prior month. The Cumulus Podcast Network held on at third, with 3.6 million, which was essentially even with February’s numbers.
Triton’s ranking included two new sales networks in March with the addition of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera news network and public broadcaster KUOW Seattle (94.9). In its debut, Al Jazeera had 415,000 average weekly downloads in the U.S. last month to the 58 podcasts it produces. That was good for a No. 16 ranking.
Two spots back is the debut of KUOW, which had 325,000 average weekly downloads last month. The public broadcaster publishes 18 podcasts.

There was a new number one podcast in Triton’s U.S. ranker for March as iHeartPodcasts’ “Stuff You Should Know” took the top spot from Crooked Media’s “Pod Save America.” Cumulus Podcast Network’s revived “The Dan Bongino Show” remained in third place.
The biggest mover in the top 10 was likely driven by current events, as the BBC’s “Global News Podcast” jumped five spots to No. 4 in March. The true crime stalwart “My Favorite Murder” rounded out the top five.
There were also several debuts in the Triton rankings. They included Glass Podcast’s “Love Trapped,” CBC/Radio-Canada’s “Someone Knows Something,” the “Al JazeeraNews Updates” podcast, KUOW’s “Focus: Adults in the Room,” Audioboom’s “The Next Level” (Audioboom), and Gamut Podcast Network’s “American Nightmares — Gardens of Evil: Inside The Zion Society Cult.”

The March update is a stripped down, mid-quarter report from Triton Digital, which is now releasing expanded quarterly updates that not only feature a ranking of the top 200 shows but also new insights by show, genre, and audience profile. They also include more than 40 demographic and purchase intent segments sourced from the Demos+ survey and audience profiles collected and assembled by Triton in collaboration with Signal Hill Insights.
While first-quarter results haven’t yet been released, the latest quarterly ranking from Q4 shows “The Joe Rogan Experience” remained the most listened-to podcast during the third quarter, followed by Audiochuck’s “Crime Junkie,” The New York Times’ “The Daily,” and SiriusXM’s “Call Her Daddy.”
