The Book Meets The Podcast In New Female-Focus Podcast And E-Book App Fictionz.

Fictionz is a new subscription app that features female-centric narrative podcasts that will give users the option to listen to or read a story, ad-free. The company says it aims to appeal to the busy woman-on-the-go who wants to take the story from the page to their headphones. The scripted serials that Fictionz will showcase are based on short stories and books by predominantly female authors and will span a range of genres, from young adult, to rom-com, drama and horror.

An example of what Fictionz offers came earlier this year with the release of a modern re-telling of the 1892 classic short story “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. In a version adapted for Fictionz by Meredith Litta, a young Tik Tok influencer played by Jeanine Mason takes a summer of rest and relaxation in a remote house, however her isolation sets in motion a descent into madness.

Also launched a ten-episode series called Bleed. It is adapted from the young adult novel by author Laurie Faria Stolarz. This longer format will be directed by Caryn Waechter with voice talent from Galilea La Salvia (Pam & Tommy), Elizabeth Johnson (Bring it On), and others.

Fictionz charges $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year for its ad-free service. To entice potential subscribers, the first episode of each of its stories is available for free, with additional podcast episodes available behind an “unlimited” subscription paywall.

Fictionz is founded by Kendall Rhodes, founder of Paraluman Media and former talent manager and co-head of digital at Untitled Entertainment. Rhodes co-founded Fictionz in a partnership with Ready Go Ventures.
