Team Coco Marks Five Years Of ‘Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend’ With Limited-Edition Vinyl Album.

Five years into the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, the former late night television host and his Team Coco team are reflecting on their anniversary. But forget a cake in the conference room or after work beers. They are instead celebrating by releasing a limited-edition vinyl album that will feature their memories along with never heard backstories and original comedy surprises.

“This is a historic achievement — listening to a podcast on vinyl will tear a hole in the hipster spacetime continuum,” said O’Brien.

The album is titled “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend: Quinquennial Celebration” and it will be limited edition. This first pressing is only 1500 copies and featured content within the limited-edition vinyl release will not be available in full in a podcast feed.

The content on the album is presented and curated by O’Brien and his co-hosts Sona Movsesian and Matt Gourley and produced by SiriusXM’s Team Coco in collaboration with Newbury Comics, an American pop culture and music retailer based in New England.

The album is available for presale beginning today (Nov. 8) HERE.

Since launching in November 2018, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend has been downloaded over 550 million times and won multiple awards. Besides its interviews, the show has also become known for its live-read ads, even releasing a fan-favorite full episode called “Oops, All Ads.”

“I did late night shows for 28 years. And it started just as a fun experiment. I really did it just for fun. And then it blew up. And I love it. It's a completely different experience,” O’Brien said during an appearance at the IAB Podcast Upfront in May. “It used to be that I was projecting comedy out to people for an hour every night. And it was a one-way conversation. And now it's a two-way conversation because I'm really talking to people.”
