Stephen A. Smith, Pat McAfee Among Highest-Paid Sportscasters.

A just-released ranking of the 10 highest-paid personalities in sports media includes five who currently have a presence in audio media in addition to their TV work.

Leading the list with an estimated $40 million annual intake, according to Bleacher Report, is ESPN and SiriusXM host Stephen A. Smith, who recently signed a five-year $105 million deal with the former and a three-year $36 million agreement with the latter. Smith, known for his controversial takes on sports, politics and pop culture, hosts two shows on SiriusXM as well as “The Stephen A. Smith Show” on the iHeartPodcast network and “Straight Shooter” on YouTube.

Following former New England Patriots quarterback and Fox Sports lead color commentator and NFL analyst Tom Brady, with $37.5 million annually, talk host and former NFL punter Pat McAfee comes in third at $30 million. The daily “Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN, ESPN+ and McAfee’s YouTube channel is also available via podcast on iHeart, Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Ranked fourth at $21 million is former NBA player and 26-year “Inside the NBA” co-host Charles Barkley, who also co-hosts “The Steam Room” podcast with Ernie Johnson. A three-way tie of football voices, each at $18 million, place fifth: “ESPN’s Monday Night Football” lead play-by-play announcer Joe Buck and color commentator Troy Aikman, and Tony Romo, who is currently on indefinite leave from his role as CBS Sports’ lead NFL analyst.

Bleacher Report ranks former college football player and ESPN “College GameDay” analyst Kirk Herbstreit eighth, with $16 million annually. In addition to commentating ABC’s Saturday college game and Thursday’s NFL game, Herbstreit also co-hosts the football podcast “Nonstop with Kirk & Joey” with ESPN colleague and former Ohio State teammate Joey Galloway.

Tied at ninth with $15 million annually are longtime TV sports commentator Al Michaels, currently handling play-by-play for Amazon’s Thursday night NFL games, and TNT Sports host Shaquille O’Neal, who also hosts “The Big Podcast with Shaq” and owns online station Shaq Fu Radio.
