Red Apple Media’s news-talk WABC New York (770) is taking another step in its podcast strategy, this time focused on generating more revenue from its growing Red Apple Podcast Network. The station has signed onto Triton Digital’s Spreaker Prime program. The agreement gives WABC and its network of more than 40 podcasts access to Spreaker Prime’s premium publisher program, which includes programmatic and premium advertising opportunities.

“WABC is one of the most recognized names in American broadcasting, and their decision to join Prime reinforces what we’re building the program to give established media brands the infrastructure and revenue tools to succeed in podcasting,” says Sharon Taylor, Chief Revenue Officer at Triton Digital. “Advertisers continue to gravitate to premium audio content, and Spreaker provides the tools and products for podcasters to focus on producing the best shows possible.”

Spreaker, Triton’s podcast hosting, distribution and monetization platform, offers dynamic ad insertion and access to programmatic demand for podcast publishers ranging from independent creators to large media companies.

The move reflects a broader trend of traditional radio broadcasters treating podcasting as a stand-alone business rather than simply an extension of their on-air programming. WABC President Chad Lopez says Red Apple Media wants its podcast business to reflect the station’s long-standing reputation while creating new revenue opportunities.

“WABC has built its reputation on trust and reach across generations of New York listeners, and we want the Red Apple Podcast Network to reflect that same standard,” Lopez says. “Joining Spreaker Prime gives us the monetization tools and dedicated support to grow our audio audience while maintaining the quality our listeners expect.”

The Red Apple Podcast Network includes more than 40 shows featuring WABC personalities and original programming, including “The Other Side of Midnight,” “The Anthony Cumia Show,” and “The Larry Kudlow Show,” among others. The network also includes Red Apple’s short-form “Minicasts,” which are short interview highlight clips from WABC shows.

The addition of Red Apple further expands Spreaker Prime’s roster of premium publishing partners as Triton continues to position the platform as a monetization solution for broadcasters and larger podcast networks.
