Radio Stations Across U.S. Raise Hundreds of Thousands for Local Charities.

Radio stations nationwide are going to work on behalf of local charities, raising thousands of dollars and bringing hope to communities this holiday season.

In Dallas, “105.3 The Fan” KRLD-FM an Audacy sports station, raised $77,000 during its 12th annual Piece-a-Thon Fundraiser benefiting My Possibilities and Sandlot Children’s Charity. The Nov. 26 event was hosted by Kevin Hageland and Cory Mageors from the “K&C Masterpiece,” broadcast live from RJ Duke’s Sports with guests including former Texas Rangers players Derek Holland and Will “The Thrill” Clark, Dallas Stars Hall of Fame goaltender Marty Turco, Texas Rangers infielder Jake Burger, and German actor Flula Borg.

“We love the opportunity to spotlight our favorite community causes with the platform that 105.3 The Fan and Audacy provide,” Mageors said. “Our turn it on, leave it on, listeners make every second of this yearly marathon broadcast adventure worth the effort.”

Of the funds raised, $60,000 will support My Possibilities, which helps adults with Down syndrome, autism, and other cognitive disabilities continue their education. Mageors said the organization holds personal significance for him after his daughter suffered brain damage as an infant. The remaining $17,000 benefits Sandlot Children’s Charity, which provides financial assistance for children with disabilities to participate in sports.

Meanwhile, seven Audacy country stations will participate in the 36th annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon on Dec. 11-12, with Luke Combs hosting a takeover hour at noon Dec. 11. Participating stations include WUSY Chattanooga, WUSN Chicago, WYCD Detroit, KMLE Phoenix, WDSY Pittsburgh, KSON San Diego, and WGGY Scranton-Wilkes-Barre. Local personalities and Audacy talent Katie Neal, Holly Hutton, and Rob Stone will host the event.

In Texas, First Media contemporary Christian KCBI Dallas/Waco (90.9) launched Christmas WISH, hosted by Bonnie Curry, highlighting four local families facing hardships such as housing insecurity, financial strain, and loss. Each family receives unexpected support during the Christmas season. Stories air weekdays through Dec. 26 at 6am, 8am, 3pm, and 5pm on 90.9 and 92.9 KCBI.

In the Pacific Northwest, PNW Media Group and DeWaard & Bode announced that their Feed the Need fundraiser generated $440,577 to support hunger relief across Northwest Washington. DeWaard & Bode contributed a $150,000 matching donation. Funds benefit food banks serving Whatcom, Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties, including the Bellingham Food Bank, Lynden Food Bank, Community Action of Skagit County, Friday Harbor Food Bank, and Good Cheer Food Bank & Thrift Store.

“We are so humbled and deeply grateful that our community came together to make this big of an impact. We thank each and every one of you!” said Jerry and Dorene Roorda, owners of DeWaard & Bode. Heidi Persson, General Manager of PNW Media Group, added, “It’s hard to make people in the radio business speechless… but this outpouring of support for our local community absolutely blew all of us away!”
