Radio Fundraisers Shine Across The Country.

From Chicago to San Diego, San Antonio to Washington, D.C., and across Texas, radio stations are wrapping up another season of community-focused fundraising, giving listeners a chance to make a difference during the holidays. Collectively, these events highlight the power of radio to mobilize communities and support those in need.

In Chicago, iHeartMedia’s “Lurie Children’s Radiothon” raised $925,831 in a single day to benefit patients and families at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. The 13-hour broadcast aired across six iHeart stations, featuring on-air personalities encouraging donations from listeners and support from local businesses like Jewel-Osco, Garrett Popcorn, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Over the past six years, the radiothon has generated more than $4.6 million.

Meanwhile, iHeart San Diego’s eighth annual “Rady Children’s Giveathon” pulled in over $415,000 across two days, bringing the eight-year total to more than $3.65 million. Eight local stations took part, sharing patient stories and hosting live interviews with families and physicians. Donations came via phone, text, and online portals, with many local businesses pledging matching gifts.

In San Antonio, Connoisseur Media news/talk KTSA (550) celebrated its 27th annual “Wrappin’ with Jack” campaign, gathering essential gifts for more than 600 families in need. Hosted by talk personality Jack Riccardi and in partnership with Family Service Association, the six-week holiday initiative concluded with a festive wrapping event, featuring live music and hundreds of volunteers, keeping a long-standing community tradition alive.

In the Washington, DC area, Atlantic Gateway Communications contemporary Christian WGTS (91.9) teamed up with ABC-7 for the annual “Toys for Tots” drive at the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial in Arlington, VA. Listeners donated enough toys to fill two 26-foot box trucks, with volunteers arriving in SUVs, U-Hauls, and even as a motorcycle club, ensuring children in the region have gifts for the holidays.

And in Texas, First Dallas Media contemporary Christian KCBI (90.9) launched “Christmas Wish,” a new program highlighting four local families facing hardships. Hosted by Bonnie Curry, the series shares inspiring stories of resilience, faith, and hope, giving families recognition, support, and encouragement during the holiday season. Listeners tune in daily to follow each family’s journey and contribute to a season of giving.

Across the country, these radio fundraisers are proving that, even in challenging times, listeners, stations, and communities can come together to make the holidays brighter for thousands of children and families.
