PodcastOne Expands Comedy Lineup As Part Of Proposed Kast Media Acquisition.

PodcastOne has picked up the exclusive network distribution and advertising sales rights to Some More News and its spinoff podcast Even More News, as part of its pending deal to buy Kast Media. Hosted and created by writer and comedian Cody Johnston, Some More News offers an entertaining take on the topical news of the week. Johnson also teams up with actress and producer Katy Stoll to host Some More News. In this show they discuss the week’s buzziest topics.

“Their engaged audiences pair well with our existing programming and as we enter into a never-ending cycle of election year news we’re looking forward to Cody’s and Katy’s comedic take on what promises to be an endless flood of attention-grabbing headlines.,” said PodcastOne President Kit Gray in the announcement. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with this team to grow their shows and their advertiser audience.”

In May, PodcastOne’s parent LiveOne announced it signed a letter of intent to acquire certain assets of Kast Media. The move would roll Kast Media’s more than 25 weekly podcasts and 33 million monthly downloads into PodcastOne, giving the podcast division more heft as it is set to be spun-off into a free-standing company.
