Technology has been at the core of what the podcast company Treefort Media has produced to date, as it says pushing the boundaries of traditional storytelling is part of its mission. It is now taking that to the next level as Treefort Media launches a first-of-its-kind mobile app called Storyrabbit that combines the power of the human voice with Generative AI to unlock a new era in audio storytelling.
Beyond the use of artificial intelligence, Treefort says the app’s interest and location-based features allows users to discover short, “snackable” stories in their own neighborhoods or anywhere in the world across genres including true crime, sports, the paranormal, food, music, art, and architecture. Each story is narrated by a familiar voice and is about a minute long. Once the story is finished, users are invited to go deeper into the story “rabbit hole,” with additional generative audio clips. Storyrabbit also has a community feature. Users are also able to connect with friends on the app to share their “rabbit holes” and explore others.
Storyrabbit was developed by Treefort Media, led by CEO Kelly Garner – an Emmy-nominated TV producer and development executive – in collaboration with Younite-AI, a developer of Generative AI and XR technologies.
“We created Storyrabbit with the idea that incredible stories are hidden all around us,” said Garner. “By partnering with notable voices and Younite-AI’s capabilities, we are able to uncover and share these stories, no matter where you are in the world. Whether you are looking to explore the restaurant scene in London or the architecture in your hometown, our goal is to entertain and educate listeners through the power of storytelling.”
Storyrabbit debuts with several notable voices, including actor Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings, Lost) who will narrate “The Wild Guide.”
"I’ve always been driven by curiosity and a desire to learn more about everything,” said Monaghan in a statement. “Storyrabbit is the perfect platform for me to partner with, offering a unique way to explore the world. Its innovative technology opens up exciting new possibilities for learning and discovery, and I’m thrilled to be part of it."
Other notables that will lend their voice skills include podcast host and bestselling author Candice DeLong (Killer Psyche) will narrate the “True Crime Guide.” And actor Josh Robert Thompson (The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Family Guy) will narrate the “Cynical Guide.” Treefort says more names will be announced soon.
Afa Heikkinen, CEO of Younite-AI, says the Storyrabbit project has allowed his AI company to pave the way for new creative frontiers, by creating a groundbreaking application that blends compelling storytelling with advanced AI technology.
"We believe this technology will be transformational in delivering on the promise of creating personalized premium content at scale, anytime, anywhere,” added Dave Papworth, CCO of Younite-AI.
Storyrabbit is available for download now on iOS in the U.S.
Since launching in 2018, Treefort Media has partnered with some of the biggest players in the audio space including Audible, Spotify, iHeartMedia and Amazon’s Wondery with podcasts that have amassed millions of downloads across its slate of hit shows including Moriarty, Killer Psyche, Killing Hollywood: The Cotton Club Murder, Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood, and Paul Giamatti’s Chinwag.
