Podcast Movement Heads To New York, Syncs With IAB Upfront.

Details of the annual Podcast Movement conference’s move to New York are taking shape. The event will take place in September alongside two other events that will showcase the industry. The move is part of what organizers say is a major evolution for Podcast Movement as looks to appeal to more than podcasts — but also the broader media and advertising community, which is largely concentrated in New York.

“Bringing Podcast Movement to New York is a signal to the broader media landscape that podcasting is no longer an emerging medium. We’re a multibillion-dollar industry that’s not even close to its peak,” said Bryan Barletta, President of Podcast Movement and Partner at Sounds Profitable.

The flagship Podcast Movement will run Sept. 17-18. The organizers say it is intended for a mix of attendees, ranging from hobbyists interested in growing the skills to creator entrepreneurs scaling their multiplatform media brands. There is no agenda yet, but organizers say session submissions will be voted on by the podcast industry for the opportunity to appear on stage, ensuring that all panels and speakers are relevant to the intended audience.

It will be preceded on Sept. 14-15 by the Sounds Profitable Business Summit. It is built for podcast industry leaders, senior decision makers, and brand and agency media buyers. While it will be open to the industry widely, non-clients of the consulting firm will have limited access. Brand and agency buyers will have free access to the event.

The events come alongside the 2026 IAB Podcast Upfront, the annual showcase by networks of their lineups to the ad community. It is set for Sept. 16. Podcast Movement will pause daytime programming to align with the IAB Upfronts. That evening, Podcast Movement will host an industry party with Locked On Podcast Network and other sponsors at Terminal 5.

“This isn’t a venue change. It’s a statement,” said Barletta. “Podcasting has gone from underestimated to unavoidable, and when the right crowd gets together, the energy is real. The conversations get bigger, the ideas move faster, and the whole industry levels up. It’s serious, but it’s also a lot of fun.”

All sponsorship opportunities and tickets will go on sale soon. Podcast Movement says opportunities to sponsor panel discussions and other conversations across the events will be reserved to “content that grows the podcast industry.”
