Mosaic Media’s Ninth Planet Audio has signed a two-year first-look deal with iHeartMedia that will give iHeart the first crack at all projects developed by the podcast production company. The deal will include production of at least two podcasts each year, including scripted comedy projects with iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players podcast network.

The two companies have already been working together, and Mosaic Principal Jimmy Miller says iHeartMedia and Big Money Players Network have been “phenomenal partners” in developing and producing their current slate of podcast programming, including the series What Future with Joshua Topolsky and several soon-to-be-released audio series. “We are looking forward to the launch of fresh, captivating content to engage with iHeart’s devoted audiences and reach new listeners through our expanded slate of innovative programming,” Miller said in a statement.

Upcoming podcast projects already in production from Ninth Planet Audio with iHeartMedia include the comedy murder mystery Does This Murder Make Me Look Gay? and the interview series Rebel Spirit with Akilah Hughes. Two upcoming scripted comedy projects with Big Money Players will also be added to the slate early next year.

“With a captivating range of stories on the horizon – from a trusty assistant tasked with solving his boss's murder, to a comedian’s return to high school in the wake of racism, to a digital media authority’s thought-provoking sit-downs with cultural luminaries – this partnership promises to take our listeners on an unforgettable journey of storytelling they will love,” said Ninth Planet Audio Podcast Executive Elizabeth Baquet. “Now with our multi-year deal, I'm thrilled to see where this collaboration will take us next.”

Conal Byrne, CEO of iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group, says their collaboration with Ninth Planet has been “an incredible success” so far.

“Now, more than ever, people are looking to connect with new entertaining content to bring into their daily routine,” Byrne said. “That kind of captivating content is exactly Ninth Planet’s wheelhouse, and we look forward to working together to develop these unique shows for listeners everywhere.”
