Netflix is rapidly scaling up its podcast business, growing its catalog to more than 60 shows just months after bringing video podcasts to the service and now renewing its entire original lineup while ordering another wave of exclusives.
The expansion brings Katt Williams and bestselling author Harlan Coben into the fold with original podcasts later this year, while Netflix is also adding new shows from established podcast and social media creators across true crime, sports, comedy and food.
The moves offer one of the clearest indications yet that podcasts are becoming a bigger piece of Netflix’s programming strategy rather than a limited experiment. Video podcasts arrived on Netflix earlier this year, and the company has already announced plans to open podcast inventory to advertisers globally in 2027.
“Podcasts are a new part of the Netflix experience, but we’re already hearing our members want more,” Netflix says in announcing the expansion.
That response is prompting Netflix to renew every show in its initial original lineup for additional episodes. Returning podcasts include “Murder with My Husband,” “The Pete Davidson Show,” “Shut Up Evan,” “The Puzzle Room with David Kwong” and “Allegedly with Ellison Barber.”
Netflix is also widening the pipeline. Williams, whose latest stand-up special is on Netflix, will debut an original podcast later this year. Details about the show have not yet been announced.
Coben will use his first original podcast to explore the unexpected events that change the course of people’s lives. The project expands an already significant relationship between Netflix and the bestselling author, whose books have supplied the streamer with a growing lineup of series.
Netflix is simultaneously recruiting creators who already have sizable audiences in podcasting and social media.
“The Rotten Files with Stephanie Soo” and “Wishbone Kitchen” with Meredith Hayden are already streaming. “Last Trace with Kaelyn Moore” arrives Sept. 28, followed Oct. 22 by “Couldn’t Agree Less with Allison & Isaac,” featuring Allison Kuch and former NFL player Isaac Rochell.
Sports is also becoming part of the expansion. “On Campus: Game of the Week,” debuting Sept. 4, will follow students in the days leading up to college game day, with two students hosting each installment from a different campus.
Netflix is not limiting its podcast strategy to shows that it develops internally. The streaming network is also bringing established podcasts onto the platform. “The Pivot Podcast,” hosted by former NFL players Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder, arrives Sept. 8. True crime show “Outlore with Eleanor Neale” follows Sept. 27.
“Podcasts are a way for members to get more of the genres, stories and personalities they love,” says Brandon Riegg, Netflix Vice President of Nonfiction Series. “No matter where or when you want to listen or watch, we have a curated selection of podcasts representing the best of true crime, sports, comedy, food, and storytelling of every kind.”
Netflix first announced a “co-exclusive partnership” with Spotify last October to offer video podcasts produced by Spotify Studios and The Ringer. Netflix then inked a deal with iHeartMedia to make video episodes for more than 15 shows available to its viewers. Netflix has also formed a multiyear partnership with Barstool Sports to bring its shows to its subscribers as well.
In the months since, television data and analytics company Samba TV reports 13% of U.S. Netflix-viewing households watched at least one Netflix podcast during the first three months of 2026.
