‘Millennial Hero’ Steve Burns Launching Podcast To Reconnect With Fans.

After a surprise viral moment during the 25th anniversary of the Nickelodeon television series “Blues Clues,” actor, musician and writer Steve Burns found himself in conversation again with tens of millions of grown-up fans who still considered him a friend. Now he is doing what any friend does — he will talk to them. In this case, it will be through a new podcast series called Alive.

Set to release this autumn, Lemonada Media says Alive will be a “cozy and delightful” weekly series that aims to continue the dialogue he started with his audience decades ago, but now with a focus on topics relevant to adults, like personal finance, spirituality and modern love. This offers a new avenue for his now-grown-up audience to reconnect with a cherished childhood figure. Adulting is hard, and Burns, now 51, is here to help a generation of fans through it as he leans into his role often described online as “Millennial hero.”

In a video posted on YouTube, Burns says the podcast can basically be an extension of the conversation he began with fans two decades ago.

“You and I have always been about this deep and curious investigation of our world, in search of these little bits of information that lead to greater understanding. And we would even sit somewhere, always with the intention of being super thoughtful about it. Sounds like a podcast today,” he says. “It used to be about shapes and colors and letters and numbers and vegetables and stuff, but now it could really be about death and sex and taxes and everything that makes it so weird and wonderful to be alive.”

For the uninitiated, “Blues Clues” was an interactive TV show for kids that premiered on Nickelodeon in 1996 and ran for six seasons. The show follows an animated, blue-spotted dog named Blue as she leaves a trail of clues/paw prints for the host and the viewers to figure out her plans for the day. Burns was the host of the show for four seasons, from 1996 to 2002. In more recent years, Burns has been involved in the show’s reboot. He has worked as a writer and director for the series titled “Blue’s Clues & You” that ran from 2019 to 2022 on Nickelodeon.

“Adults need to be shepherded through life just as much as kids do, and Steve is the perfect person to do it. He taps right into your inner child, helping listeners feel delight, comfort and curiosity,” says Jessica Cordova Kramer, CEO of Lemonada. “From the moment we saw Steve’s videos on TikTok during the pandemic, we knew we had to work with him.”

Burns also recently announced Steve Burns Alive, his debut solo live show for adult audiences, written by Burns and Matthew Freeman (The Ask) and directed by Freeman. The pop-up performance will run July 23-25 at the Club at La MaMa in New York.
