Mike Golic Sr. To Join Notre Dame Football Radio Booth.

Former Notre Dame standout and longtime sports broadcaster Mike Golic Sr. has been named color analyst for The SoFi Notre Dame Radio Network, joining play-by-play announcer Tony Simeone and studio host Johnny Soper for the 2026 football season.

The announcement was made Wednesday by the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Global Partnerships, which manages the sales, marketing, sponsorship, multimedia rights and branding services for the university’s athletics programs.

“We are thrilled to add a voice of Mike’s caliber to our radio broadcast team,” Jim Fraleigh, University of Notre Dame Deputy Athletics Director for Corporate Relations, says in a news release. “As a former player, Mike brings a rare combination of broadcasting expertise and a genuine passion for Notre Dame and college football as a whole. He’ll pair perfectly with the chemistry Tony and Johnny have built over the past two seasons.”

Golic replaces the network’s color analyst after compiling a lengthy career in both football and broadcasting. A defensive lineman at Notre Dame from 1981-84, he played 10 NFL seasons with the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins before launching a broadcasting career.

He became one of the best-known personalities in sports radio as co-host of ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike” with Mike Greenberg, a program that ran for nearly 18 years. Golic also has served as a football analyst for ESPN television and radio. Earlier this week, he and his son, Mike Golic Jr., returned to ESPN Radio to launch a new program, “The Golics.” Golic Jr. played offensive line at Notre Dame from 2008-12.

“Some places never leave your heart; Notre Dame is one of those places for me,” the senior Golic says. “To now have the opportunity to serve on the radio team with Tony and Johnny is both humbling and exciting. I am looking forward to every game and sharing the passion that makes Irish football unlike anything else.”

Simeone returns for his third season as the Fighting Irish’s play-by-play announcer after taking over the role in 2024. Soper also returns for his third season as the network’s studio host.

“This trio brings the top-tier football analysis our fans expect and that authentic connection that makes Notre Dame so special. Fans are going to be in good hands all season,” Fraleigh says.
