It’s a fourth straight win for Progressive on Media Monitors’ weekly list of top radio advertisers by spot count.
The insurer and radio advertising mainstay, which had a total play count of 75,067 for the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2, received fierce competition from Intuit’s Turbo Tax, which recorded 74,971 and moved up to No. 2 on the latest list, up one spot from the prior week. Lowe’s (57,870), Upside (43,884) and Wendy’s (40,815) rounded out the top five.
Turbo Tax is ramping up its use of radio advertising with tax filing season in motion. According to the Internal Revenue Service, more than 140 million individual tax returns for tax year 2024 are expected to be filed ahead of the Tuesday, April 15 federal deadline. More than half of all tax returns are expected to be filed this year with the help of a tax professional, the IRS says.

They include TRA Tax Relief Advocates, No. 24 (19,882); Optima Tax Relief, No. 27 (19,360); Jackson Hewitt, No. 31 (18,641); TaxSlayer, No. 56 (11,502); Civic Tax Relief, No. 79 (7,305); and Tax Relief Helpers, No. 95 (5,781).
