Mattress Firm Springs Back Into Radio’s Top 10 Advertisers.

After returning to radio’s top 100 advertisers two weeks ago, Mattress Firm ramps up its ad weight to 30,636 spots and marches 16-8 on the spot count tally for the week of Feb. 13-19. The mattress retailer hasn’t ranked this high in spot volume since the week of Nov. 14-20, when it was promoting Black Friday sales. Now it’s back in the top 10 marketing Presidents’ Day sales. Elsewhere in the Bedding Retailers and Manufacturers category, Sleep Number aired 9,733 spots to rank at No. 61.

The Home Depot also boosted its radio outlay in a big way to promote Presidents’ Day sales. The home retailer jumped all the way from the bottom reaches of the weekly chart at No. 62 to No. 9 within one week. Home Depot is already advertising sales on outdoor furniture and the upcoming spring planting season is one of the retailer’s busiest times, when it typically ramps up its radio spending the most. Competitor Lowe’s is further down the chart at No. 34 with 15,289 spot airings and Menard’s is No. 75 (8,276).

With tax season in full swing, there are four accounts in the Accounting, Auditing and Tax Preparations category. Jackson Hewitt leads at No. 17 with 21,739 spot detections, followed by Liberty Tax at No. 39 (14,019), Optima Tax Relief at No. 48 (11,793), and US Tax Shield at No. 80 (7,823).

Also climbing the spot count chart is Grainger, which advances to No. 7 for its highest showing since the week of July 18-24, 2022.

In the battle for fast food supremacy, Wendy’s is the most aggressive on the airwaves currently, airing 23,331 spots to rank No. 14. Taco Bell is next at No. 24, followed by McDonald’s at No. 25, Dunkin at No. 62, Chick-fil-A at No. 64, and KFC at No. 83.

For the week of Feb. 13-19, 2023, the top ten on the Media Monitors tally are iHeartMedia at 1, Progressive at 2, Upside at 3, Babbel at 4, “Unpacking the Toolbox” podcast at 5, ZipRecruiter at 6, Grainger at 7, Mattress Firm at 8, The Home Depot at 9, and Indeed at 10.
