The Locked On Podcast Network is off to a robust start to the year. Parent Tegna reports revenue soared 83% during the first quarter compared to a year ago for the sports podcast company.
Listens were up double-digits too. Tegna says the Locked On Podcast Network delivered 82 million audio listens and video views during Q1, a 24% increase over the previous year.
Q1 may be the pinnacle of the NFL season with the Super Bowl, but Locked On’s focus on local teams means results in different peaks and valleys for listening. While it says audience growth was strong across the entire network of team and league podcasts, the biggest year-on-year growth was for college (+48%) and MLB (+39%) podcasts in terms of both listens and views.
Video is also proving to be a big part of Locked On’s growth story. The network says its video views increased 45% year-over-year through distribution across YouTube and multiple OTT platforms.
