KFI Reshuffles Lineup, Returns John Kobylt To Afternoons.

iHeartMedia talk KFI Los Angeles (640) is reshuffling its weekday lineup, highlighted by John Kobylt’s return to afternoon drive and the launch of a new midday show pairing Chris Merrill and Michael Monks.

Effective Feb. 17, Kobylt moves into the 3-6pm slot — a daypart he dominated for years as half of the former “John & Ken Show.” The move returns one of the station’s most recognizable voices to afternoon drive.

Tim Conway Jr. will slide into evenings from 6-10pm, reviving his popular talk show in the later daypart.

The biggest addition comes in middays, where Merrill and Monks will team for the new “Monks & Merrill” show from 12-3pm. Merrill is a longtime KFI personality who has served the station in multiple roles, while Monks is an award-winning senior reporter and host for the station. The pairing is designed to blend news and talk with a focus on issues impacting Southern California.

“This new lineup continues a tradition built on excellence,” Division President Paul Corvino said in the announcement, calling the additions of Merrill and Monks “a great opportunity” for the brand and advertisers across Southern California.

Program Director Brian Long framed the changes as a strategic reset of key dayparts. “The chance to put John Kobylt back in drivetime and move Tim Conway Jr. and his entertaining brand of talk a bit later for the evening crowd is a homerun for KFI listeners,” Long said, adding that the revised schedule — anchored by Bill Handel, Gary & Shannon, and the station’s news team — positions KFI as “the most stimulating talk lineup in America.”

The revamped weekday lineup will read:

6-9am: Bill Handel

9am-12pm: Gary & Shannon

12-3pm: Monks & Merrill

3-6pm: John Kobylt

6-10pm: Tim Conway Jr.
