iHeartMedia country outlets WMZQ Washington, DC (98.7), and WPOC Baltimore (93.1) have named Kelly Ford Music Director and afternoon host for both stations, effective immediately. Ford will anchor weekday afternoons from 3pm to 7pm on the co-owned stations. She reports to Jeff Kapugi, Region Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia.
“There’s really a lot of good talent out there, but after meeting Kelly and spending time with her, I knew she was the one,” Kapugi said in a release. “She’s special in so many ways and I can’t wait for DC and Baltimore to experience Kelly Ford on WMZQ and WPOC.”
Ford joins WMZQ and WPOC from Connoisseur Media “103.1 The Wolf” WWWF Nassau-Suffolk, NY, where she served as Music Director and afternoon host. She has also hosted syndicated programs for “Backstage Country” and Westwood One, along with on-air roles in New York City and Nashville. Ford has won three CMA Awards, three Gracie Awards, an ACM Award and a Marconi Award.
“I’m so excited to plant my flag in the DMV and honored to join two iconic brands like WMZQ and WPOC,” Ford said. “The cherry on top is getting to work with Jeff Kapugi as our views of what makes great, compelling radio and building community align perfectly.”
