What is a new podcast? That could be the Jeopardy question about what the creators of the television game show are up to. Alongside its announcement of two new hosts, Executive Producer Michael Davies says the iconic Sony-produced show is launching the weekly Inside Jeopardy! podcast.
“Hosted by the Jeopardy! producers, including me, Inside Jeopardy! will give you all an inside look into everything going on behind the scenes at America’s Favorite Quiz Show: everything from gameplay analysis and behind-the-scenes stories, to official announcements, and special interviews,” Davies said in an announcement.
The first episode will drop Monday (Aug. 1) on which he said they will announce all of the contestants who will be returning for a Second Chance to become a Jeopardy! champion. “And I will share my vision for Jeopardy!’s future, including new developments in the areas of pop culture and sports, plans for a Jeopardy! Honors awards show and my biggest and most passionately held idea: a Jeopardy! Masters league in primetime or on a streaming platform,” said Davies.
The announcement of a new podcast came as Sony announced Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will both serve as permanent hosts of the game show. Davies said that starting Monday they will also begin releasing a daily three minute highlight recap of the day’s Jeopardy! episode on its website and social media.
Jennings will kick off Season 39 of “Jeopardy!” in September, and Bialik will take over for him in January. He will host the Tournament of Champions and she will host “Celebrity Jeopardy!” in Primetime.
