Jay Shetty Brings “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” To The iHeartPodcast Network.

One of the top Health and Wellness genre podcasts is joining the iHeartPodcast Network. Jay Shetty’s indie show On Purpose will tap iHeart for distribution, ad sales and promotion across its network. Shetty calls it a “new chapter” for his podcast that already has more than 20 million monthly listeners. “As the podcast has scaled globally it made perfect sense to join together with the number one podcast publisher,” he said.

Launched in February 2019, On Purpose is a mix of conversation with guests and a quest to help listeners “find purpose.” It is a show that has featured several high-profile guests during the past four years who open up to the best-selling author. From discussing childhood trauma with Oprah, and how experiences at a young age can mold our adult life; unpacking mental health with Selena Gomez; engaging with one’s inner child with Kendall Jenner; tackling fame as a drug with Kevin Hart; Will Smith’s commitment to family; having a second chance at love with Alicia Keys; tackling racism with Lewis Hamilton; finding purpose in troubled times with Jennifer Lopez; to Kobe Bryant on inspiring others.

“On Purpose is on a journey to help make people happier, healthier and more healed,” Shetty said. “Through insightful and vulnerable conversations with icons, experts and cultural figures and weekly workshops, On Purpose is dedicated to giving our community the habits and tools to live a more fulfilling life. I’m so grateful for our loyal and ever growing community who come back every day to listen, learn and grow,” he said in a statement.

As podcasting has grown, so has the reliance many people place on the medium to improve their mental health and wellness – especially during the pandemic. One in four people have suffered from loneliness and depression, Shetty and iHeart note in their joint announcement. Shetty a former monk, who takes the title of “chief purpose officer of calm,” has built a following with a show that publishes each Monday and Friday.

“Since launching On Purpose just four years ago, Jay has become one of the most influential voices in podcasting, especially when it comes to conversations around mental health and wellness,” said Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts. “Podcasts are a powerful, intimate medium, so it’s not surprising that we’ve seen such a tremendous number of listeners turning toward this medium as a mental health resource. We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Jay to help him bring his wisdom to an even broader audience and to expand what we’re doing in this category in such a meaningful way.”

The addition of On Purpose is also a bit of a rarity for iHeartPodcasts, which typically creates shows in-house rather than acquiring outside productions, especially on the scale that Shetty brings.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty will join the network’s existing roster of highly popular shows focused on mental health and wellness, including Therapy for Black Girls, Pushkin’s The Happiness Lab, and A Slight Change of Plans, Navigating Narcissism, Ice-T’s Daily Game, Unbreakable with Jay Glazer, and a dozen others.
