iHeartMedia’s WWPR-FM Powers Urban Contemporary’s Top 10.

If you’re not familiar with Kehlani, Don Toliver and Mariah the Scientist, welcome to urban contemporary radio’s class of 2026. Add longtime standout acts such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B and Chris Brown, along with the strongest air personalities on the longest-running stations in the format, and you’ve got Inside Radio’s TOP 10 urban contemporary stations, based on persons 6+ weekly cume delivery during Nielsen’s spring 2026 wave (April-June three-month average).

At the top with a 1.3 million cume is one of iHeartMedia’s seven outlets listed, “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM New York. In the format since 2002, “Power” is the homebase of “The Breakfast Club,” hosted by Radio Hall of Fame inductees DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God since its start in 2010, and syndicated by Premiere Networks since 2013. The program is also heard on three other iHeartMedia stations in the top 10: fifth-ranked “93.7 The Beat” KQBT Houston, seventh-ranked “Power 99” WUSL Philadelphia, and eighth-ranked WJLB (97.9) Detroit.

Coming in second is iHeartMedia’s “Real 92.3” KRRL Los Angeles, where L.A. morning radio veteran, two-time Marconi Award winner and National Radio Hall of Fame inductee Kurt “Big Boy” Alexander has hosted “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” since 2015.

Audacy’s “V-103” WVEE Atlanta — an urban contemporary station since 1976, featuring “The Big Tigger Morning Show” since 2009 — places third, while Urban One “K104” KKDA-FM Dallas, the flagship of DeDe McGuire’s “DeDe in the Morning,” syndicated by Compass Media Networks since 2018, ranks fourth.

iHeartMedia’s other two stations in urban contemporary’s top 10 come in sixth and ninth, respectively: WGCI (107.5) Chicago, which began in the format in 1980 and is known for December’s annual “Big Jam” concert; and KMEL (106.1) San Francisco, with mornings hosted by Sana G, who has been part of hip-hop radio in the market since 2003.

Ranked tenth is Cox Media Group’s “99 Jamz” WEDR Miami, urban-formatted since 1970 and the one-time home of nighttime host and multi-platinum rapper/producer DJ Khaled.
